Promise Me by Kelly Walker Review

Rating – ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Promise Me was a pretty average read for me. Whilst it was moving at times, I was sort of bored at the end of the book.

Our two main characters are River and Ian. River is grief-ridden and barely making it through her daily life. She works at a restaurant, and tries to keep everyone at arm’s length.

Ian is a Marine hacker, come back from the dead and complete with a new name. When a job requires him to look into a restaurant’s staff and surveillance, he meets River.

There’s a lot of push and pull between River and Ian. River is rude to Ian constantly, pushing him away repeatedly, and Ian keeps coming back. Seeing River come to trust Ian with her secrets was quite sweet, and Ian was incredibly supportive.

While River and Ian are pretty average characters, the supporting characters just totally went over my head; their storylines and drama were just lost on me. Hell, even their names were lost on me.

Overall, quite an average read, and good if you’re looking for a light romance that doesn’t require a great deal of thinking.
