Nightblood (Frostblood #3) by Elly Blake Review

Rating – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I couldn’t have asked for a better end to this series – it has cemented its place as one of my favourite series of all time. It truly has everything; a kickass heroine, sizzling romance, intricate mythology, witty banter and heart pounding adventure.

Ruby continues to be passionate and hot headed, and I absolutely adore her for it. She struggles increasingly with the Minax possession, which, while it was frustrating to read, I did appreciate instead of the whole ‘So-powerful-I-can-resist-possession’ thing that a few authors do with their main characters. Ruby says and does some terrible things under the Minax’s possession, and nobody treats her like a baby; they know that Ruby isn’t herself, but they still call her out when she does something unacceptable.

Elly’s portrayal of relationships is incredibly realistic; it’s not all sunshine and rainbows in this book! There’s flirtation and steamy kisses and adorable banter, but there’s also shouting and threatening and keeping secrets. And after they argue, they talk it out like adults (there are a few silent treatments here and there but hey – my dad is fifty and he still gives us the silent treatment on a weekly basis).

I couldn’t be happier with the ending of this beautiful series – I just hope that this isn’t the last we hear from these characters (just a happy little novella? Please?). I can’t wait to see where Elly goes next, as her books have gone from strength to strength.
